End-of-Year Mailing Information Center
Paper, Envelopes, and Stamps
Your November and December mailings are a great time to choose a different type of paper and envelope, to help your letter stand out. Red and green are particularly common colors for envelopes and reply cards, but our entire range of paper and envelope colors gets used.
What kinds of special paper do you have?
New for 2009 is a linen paper with matching envelopes, available in both white and natural (ivory) colors. They have a nice, textured feel that's sure to stand out, and are particularly appropriate for end-of-year "asks".
Both white and natural linen are available for $0.05/sheet, and $0.08/envelope. If you'll be including pictures, we recommend the white over the natural, but you can usually get away with either.
For holiday greeting-style letters, we also have a Holly Lattice pre-printed paper, shown (somewhat faded) on the right. Please use one of the templates if you're going to use this paper, as it needs especially wide margins, and is best for short letters with large font sizes.
We also have two shades of green envelope and a red envelope, all of which have matches or near-matches in paper color, and pastel ivory paper and envelopes are common throughout the year for a more distinctive look.
Can I use monarch paper and envelopes?
Yes, with one caveat. The width of monarch paper is too close to the width of monarch envelopes, so we have to insert them by hand, which adds $0.20/letter to the cost (or $0.25 if there's a reply envelope as well).
Other than that, we can use any paper type and cut it down to monarch size without a problem, including the linen paper mentioned above. The envelopes are only available in white, since we can't just cut those down to size.
If you're already planning on having us send you the letters so you can sign them and add handwritten notes, then you don't need to worry about the extra cost, and this is a popular way to help your letter stand out.
Otherwise, if you'd like us to send the mailing for you and would like to avoid the manual labor charge, we recommend using either the new linen paper mentioned in the previous question, or colored envelopes with matching reply slips, to help your letter stand out.
When preparing your letter for monarch-sized printing, set the paper size to 7.25" wide by 10.5" tall. This size is also known as executive paper, and can be found under that name in both Word and Publisher.
Can I send paper to you for my mailing?
Yes, but please consider one of our paper types before you do. It will save a lot of hassle, and there's no risk of the paper getting damaged during shipping, or not being able to run on our printing equipment for whatever reason.
If you would like us to use your paper, please be sure to include extra sheets to allow for reprints and beat-up corners from shipping, pack it carefully, and send it to us at this address:
Technically Sound
30 Airport Road, Suite 1
West Lebanon, NH 03784
Providing your own paper will add $0.02/letter to the cost of your mailing, to cover the added labor involved.
Can I include a reply envelope?
Yes. We can print and include both #9 and #6 3/4 reply envelopes. Unless you specifically request the smaller size, we'll use #9 envelopes, since they're $0.02 cheaper (we buy them in larger quantities, and they're not as troublesome to print).
Do you have reply envelopes for my ministry?
Asian Access
Yes, we can print these envelopes for you as needed, for our normal reply envelope price. They'll be printed in B&W on our laser envelope printer.
Campus Crusade for Christ
Yes, we now stock CCC's giving envelopes. We can include them with your letter for $0.05/envelope as is, or $0.10/envelope with your account number filled in.
InterVarsity
We aren't able to order these envelopes, but we do have them in stock. If you would like to use them, please have InterVarsity send us enough to replenish what you'll be using.
These envelopes need to be hand-folded before we can include them with your letter, which adds $0.10/envelope.
We can include a label on the envelope identifying your ministry for $0.60/sheet of 30 (printing) plus $0.10/label (applying to the envelope by hand), for a total of $0.12/envelope if you have an even multiple of 30 people on your list.
Other Ministries
If your ministry supplies you with giving envelopes, let us know who to contact about ordering them, and we'll see if we can start stocking them for you.
Can I use 6x9 enevlopes?
Yes, but there's a very high likelihood that we'll need to insert them by hand, which will add significantly to the price. Get in touch with us before finalizing your design, and we'll help you decide on the various options.
Can I use special stamps?
Yes, provided we're able to get them at the post office. Early in the season, this shouldn't be a problem. Later on, they tend to sell out. If you know roughly how many you'll need, let us know in advance, and we can order them online for you as well.
We can also use photo stamps, which contain a small picture of your choice. These are roughly double the price of normal stamps, so they're not very commonly used, but they definitely stand out.
Special stamps require a $0.10/letter hand-stamping charge.
